Interview Questions

LMF: okay why don't we start off with you introducing yourself.
VA: My name is Victoria Ayers. I'm a singer in Florida.
LMF: When did you know you wanted to be a singer?
VA: Ever since I can remember really. When I was little, even in preschool or something, I would just sing for people. As I got older I became better and better (I sang all the time). I have never been more passionate or more... sure about anything else, ever. Haha. I feel so blessed, not many people know their destiny their whole lives. It's so awesome that I didn't have to spend too much time deciding who I wanted to become... Just came naturally.
LMF: Describe your music to someone who has never heard it before.
VA: It is terriffic. Haha, My music is really influenced by a few different genres I think. I sing soulful pop, with r&b touches. I do write most of my stuff so far, so you would know my songs are generally coming from me, and I think people could relate. I try not to repeat myself. Not every song is about love... Some about break ups, losing a loved one, Being happy, Having fun, Gaining maturity.. growing and becoming wise. I sing powerful ballads, or hot club tracks. My material is pretty diverse in that sense.. I think most people would probably like it if they took the chance to simply listen to it. It will be available to hear soon :-). Also no matter what it is.. expect Hot lyrics!
LMF: Who are your biggest musical influences?
VA: Well I grew up listening to the greats! Whitney, Mariah, Celine....etc. But honestly, I started singing in country. Haha! Leanne Rimes. My first signature song with my family and friends was Blue. As I grew older I developed more soul and all that jazz. Also I was influenced by Destiny's Child and some more contemporary r&b artists such as them.
LMF: There are a lot of female artists out right now, what sets you apart from the rest?
VA: Because... I rule and they dont..... Haha! Just playin. Um, Really I think most serious artists develop their own style. I guess you could say I'm pretty goofy and really down to earth. General females focus on imaging... I focus more vocally and it shows through my music how passionate I am about my music. I mean, I am getting into choreography and styling and everything... But It does not ever come before my voice. I think a vocally based music career will last longer... Expect the best of me in all of my songs.
LMF: What was your first on stage experience like?
VA: Oh wow! Well, First ever? I think that was in 5th grade. I had a solo at my elementary school. I sung "Close To You." I forget who it is by. But I fell in love with performing! It was such a rush for me. I didn't want it to end! I love singing for people.
LMF: Do you have any pre-show rituals that you do before a performance?
VA: Well, so far I have performed shows with other artists involved. I love meeting new people! Especially other singers who I can relate to. I just talk to new people, I also stare at a mirror forever in the dressing room or bathroom. Makin sure the groovyness is tip top! Haha. You know how that is.. I also pray before I go on, nothing big and religious.. just shortly and quietly to myself. It helps calm my nerves, and gives me a little more confidence that I wont fall on my face!
LMF: Do you have any embarrassing moments on stage you would like to share?
VA: Oh wow! Do I ever. Haha. I did a show at my school early last year right? But a few days before I caught bronchidis. Not cool! But, I believe in the "Show Must Go On" policy. So I went up there, I sung No Scrubs by TLC. (This was before I had original material) And the key had to be very low. I sounded like a frog! But that isn't even the worst of it... In the middle, I ran out of breath and Coughed for about 20 seconds!!! It was the most humiliating experience in my entire life. I almost cried after the show. But the audience understood I was sick, and respected that I still had the guts to go on! Thats something that I personally think is unique about me... I dont mind being humble sometimes, and understand that I am only human.
LMF: What is the best part about being a performer?
VA: The free food backstage! Duh.. :-D Haha Nah, I'm just joshin' ya! I think being a performer makes me confident. Growing up I was picked on by a great number of my peers. I told myself that one day I would achieve my dreams and move on. You know, forget about how things used to be. Make a new life for myself, a happy one. For me to have a happy life music would simply have to be involved! The fact that I am a performer now, Is just so... wonderful to me. It reassures me that there is nothing I can not do if I work hard to achieve it. It tells me that there are people who respect me, who like and support me, and now I have friends through my experiences with music. I am truely thankful for what I am blessed with, and hope to succeed to the fullest extent. There is no best part of being a performer.. It is all wonderful to me. Even the work involved.
LMF: What do you like better, recording in the studio or performing live?
VA: Those are two things that you simply cant compair to eachother. They are both wonderful for their own, unique reasons. In the studio, you can really perfect things. Play around with it... Make sure you are getting the exact emotion into the music through your voice. I love the recording process. I think creating songs is just as cool as being able to sing. Then again, theres a certain rush you get on the stage. Tons of people focusing on you, cheering you on. Even though you only have one shot to get it right, it is worth the extra focus to hear people yelling your name. There is nothing like it, nothing better.
LMF: What has been the most memorable moment in your career this far?
VA: Coming together with SkyRise Media. Robert Reynolds is so awesome. I feel so honored that he wants to put his time, money, and patience into the assurance that I will succeed. He knows what he is doing, and I feel so blessed. So far, that is the best thing that has ever happened to me! A lot has been going on since I have been under his wing, so to speak. And I am greatful that I have this opprotunity. I really think this company can get me to where I want to be. I'm still trippin about it. Haha.
LMF: What CD would we find in your CD player right now?
VA: JoJo, my Demo CD instrumentals (still writing on some of them), and a mix cd of classic jazz and big band music. I am not sure what is in the fourth disc changer, It is either Norah Jones or Amy K (my friend Amy, She is also a singer, I met her at the chasco fiesta. She is a sweetheart. Very very talented.)
LMF: What is the one food you could eat 24/7?
VA: Beef Ravioli's! Or Turkey Wraps.
LMF: Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
VA: All up in your cd player! Haha. On TRL... in your magazines!! Everywhere!!! "Limit" isnt in my vocabulary as far as my career goes.
LMF: If you had a fortune cookie, what would your ideal fortune cookie say?
VA: It would say "you will get another fortune cookie." Then the next fortune cookie would say "Your greatest dreams will come true soon" of course! (or possibly "jesse mccartney wants to marry you" haha, though... thatd be more of a "you wish" cookie rather than a fortune cookie. darn.)
LMF: Last one, Is there anything you would like to say to the fans?
VA: Of course! I always have something to say. You can ask my mom. -To the fans-:: I love you!!!! Thanks so much for your love and support. I hope you will all keep the Victoria Pride alive!! And stand by me even when I am low on the industry food chain. I am forever greatful to your loyalty and kindness in helping me get to where I am, as well as where I am going. Keep it up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
