Interview Questions
OK lets get started with your name:
Hi, my name is Sharyn Maceren and I'm a recording artist on a new label from the Bay Area called Planet Hype.
What made you become a singer?
Singing is something that I've always wanted to do. I was fortunate to record my first single when I was eighteen.
When was your first performance?
Professionally, my first performance was at the Masonic Center in San Francisco in the year 2000.
Who are your musical influence(s)?
My musical influences are a lot of Dance artists from the 80s and Mariah Carey.
If you had the chance to sing with anyone, who would it be and why?
Right now, I would pick Lauryn Hill. She is one of my favorite singer/songwriters and I feel like I would have so much fun flowing with her.
Do you write songs?
Yes, I've written songs since I was 12 years old.
if so, How many do you have?
All together, I have hundreds. Out of them all, I have recorded 15.
when is you CD coming out?
My new album called Always Dreamin' which should be hitting shelves on Aug 20. Bay Area fans should be able to get them in stores, while fans across the country and overseas can purchase them online. One place to try is at http://buy.sharyn.net
So what about dancing? Is that something you like to do?
I love dancing. I'm one of those people that don't care if there isn't another person on the dance floor. If there's good music playing, that I'm feelin', I'll be there!
So how does your friends/famliy feel about you singing?
My parents have always been very supportive about my career. In fact, my mother has helped me out a lot. My relatives and my friends are happy knowing that I'm doing what I've always dreamed about doing so I've always been in a very positive environment.
Do you have full support from them?
150%
If you had to define your sound, how would you define it?
I would say that my sound is a combination of all of the types of music that I love... which is Dance, R&B, and Pop.
what makes you different then the other singers?
I think the main difference is the fact that I write my own music. When people hear my music, I am often told that they can sense that the music is really coming from me and so it appears to be more personal.
Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
Honestly, I'm the kind of person that doesn't look too far in the future. Hopefully, I will have achieved many goals that I have set for myself and continue to maintain a good relationship with the people that I care about.
What would you say to the people that want to become singers?
If music is something you really want to do, don't ever give up. Believe in yourself when no one else does because it's up to you to prove yourself.
The most important thing that I tell people that ask me for advice, is to just be educated about the business because it is a business. Read as much as you can about the industry, take classes, if at all possible,
and learn about in any way you can (i.e. documentaries on artists, etc.)
What would you like to say to your fans?
I just want to say "Thank you....Thank You...Thank You" for your constant support, patience and enthusiasm. I always have fun meeting you all at the shows, talking with you guys on the Net, and reading your messages at my Yahoo! Club. It is such a blessing to be able to have the opportunity to share my music with you all. I appreciate everything you guys are to me. Lastly, always feel free to visit me at my online home http://www.SharynMaceren.com Much love and appreciation
