Interview Questions
LMF: OK lets get started with your name?
SS: Hello, my name is Shadia Simmons.
LMF: How old are you?
SS: I turned 16 on June 28th.
LMF: What made you become a actress?
SS: My mom had a friend that needed a child to do some photos for a children's book that was coming out and asked if I would be interested in doing it. I was about 8 at the time and said why not. To make a long story short, my mom was approached by another friend to join a talent agency, and from there, I did print ads, commercials, and movies/shows.
LMF: When was your first performance as an actress?
SS: My first performance doing commercials was for a Japanese commercial for a Marabelle doll. My first performance for a movie/show was a movie called "Moonlight and Valentino." I played the daughter of Woopie Goldberg named Jenny.
LMF: Who are your influences?
SS: My influences, this is a hard question, if the question is in reference to outside my personal world, then I would have to say there are a few people that have influenced my life such as Halle Berry, Denzel Washington, Michelle Pfeiffer, Beyonce, Eddy Murphy and Jim Carey.
LMF: If you had the chance to act with anyone who would it be and why?
SS: I love comedy and Eddy Murphy and Jim Carey I heard were a lot of fun to work with. Any of the above influences would be great. To be quite honest, there is a lot of great actors/actresses out there and I would love to work with anyone that would help me grow as an actress.
LMF: So how does your friends/famliy feel about you acting?
SS: I have a close family and great friends. My family is all in the entertainment industry and my mom is the strength, I don't know how she does it, but she manages to hold everything together and gets everyone to auditions and set on time. I have friends from when I was in grade school still, I love hanging with all of them as they keep me grounded. I do normal things with them, like play basketball, watch movies and workout.
LMF: Do you have full support from them?
SS: Definately, my family supports my career 100%. I mean, when my mom or dad cannot be on set with me, the rest of the family pitches in.
LMF: what makes you different then the other actors?
SS: This is a really hard question for me to answer. I asked my mom to help me with this one, and she said it is because I am real, (true to myself and to my fans), She said that I play the parts with my heart and work hard to accomplish the inside of the character.
LMF: Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
SS: God Willing, I see myself working on the big screen.
LMF: What would you say to the people that want to become actors?
SS: Keep positive, never give up on your dreams, and always work at improving your gift. Only 2% of the actors/actresses that start will finish as a star. So aim to be in the 2%. You can do it!
LMF: What would you like to say to your fans?
SS: I want to say, thank you so much for your support over the years. All of you have been so kind and I love the letters, and emails. I try and answer all the letters asap and if you haven't received yours yet, I promise you will. Take care. Keep updated on my website at www.shadiasimmons.com. Smile and world will smile with you!
