Interview Questions
LMF: OK lets get started with your name?
SL: Naomi Carmack
LMF: How old are you?
SL: 23
LMF: What made you become a singer?
SL: Starting with my girlfriends in junior high, when we created a girl group. It got me fascinated with the idea of really becoming a performer. I was 11 years old at the time.
LMF: When was your first performance?
SL: Singing my first lead in high school choir for the school's open house. I sang Billy Joel's "River Of Dreams".
LMF: Who are your musical influences?
SL: I have listened to Bon Jovi, MariahCarey, and Bryan Adams most of my life. They will always have the biggest impact on me. More recently I have been into Nsync, Christina Aguilera, and Alanis.
LMF: If you had the chance to sing with anyone who would it be and why?
SL: Jon Bon Jovi. What's better than singing with your idol?
LMF: Do you write songs?
SL: yes. I have writen since I was 12. This year I started collaborating with Corey Johnson and Mike Bidlock, my producers.
LMF: How many do you have?
SL: Finished? probably 30. Unfinished, we could go on forever.
LMF: Do you have a demo?
SL: Yes. Just finished recording my 10th studio track recently so I have picked four of them to make a demo with for record companies.
LMF: So what about dancing? Is that something you like to do?
SL: I love it, I am just no good at it! :) I dance at clubs all of the time. I also watched Paula Abdul, Janet Jackson, and Madonna as a little girl and tried to emulate them. It's never been a focus of mine, particularily with the rock music I have recorded. If I had a choreographer and more pop tunes, I'd give it a shot.
LMF: So how does your friends/famliy feel about you singing?
SL: They have been so supportive and interested in my career! At the same time, it's nice that they don't focus on it constantly. It's good to know you have true friends who value you for who you are, not what you're doing. I am blessed with that. And that they listen to me whine!
LMF: If you had to define your sound, how would you define it?
SL: a melting pot of genres, defined by catchy, hook-laden songwriting. I recorded pop and rock, so there's not a true label that could be stuck on me.
LMF: what makes you different then the other singers?
SL: My looks. I write and have a highly active role in the creative process of my career. My sound is quite mature for my age. My subject matter is very real to what people go through.
LMF: Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
SL: Touring to support my album. That's what I hope I am always doing! And all the good stuff like having a family.
LMF: What would you say to the people that want to become singers?
SL: Make sure it's what you really want! It's a difficult struggle for some, but if you have the drive and know this is what your path in life will be, don't let tiny setbacks keep you down.
LMF: What would you like to say to your fans?
SL: I am truly grateful for all of your encouragement! I really love getting emails from you, and I do write everyone back. Ifyou enjoy my music you can buy the CD at my website and I'll write you a message in it. I feel grateful for everyone who likes my music enough to buy it, so it's the least I can do.
