Interview Questions
LMF: Why don't we start off with you introducing yourself?
J: Hello...my name is Justin & I'm a Taurus.
LMF: How is your arm doing, I heard that you broke it?
J: My arm is about 90% healed! My doc said it'll take the rest of this year to heal up 100%, but I'm at least allowed to do shows again! Unfortunately my baseball days are gonna have to be over...at least for a few years. I can't afford to have that kinda setback happen to me ever again!
LMF: What made you become a singer?
J: My entire life I've had 2 major passions...music & baseball. As long as I was either writing songs & performing or pitching, I was very happy! After high school I decided to give music all of my attention & I couldn't be happier with my choice.
LMF: How would you describe your music?
J: I may hit ya with a ballad, Latin vibe or Hip-Hop song...but at the end of the day it's gonna be called Pop. I'm totally cool with that! A good Pop song will last forever & that's what I'm striving to create everyday.
LMF: Do you write your own music?
J: OF COURSE!!! I'd say 99% of all my lyrics have come from a real place, whether it's the past or present. I never once claimed that I was the best singer or rapper, but I pride myself on writing good songs! I try to hit subjects that haven't been hit before. Like "Eyes Closed So Tight" wasn't just your typical break-up song, I wrote it from a different angle. Songs like "Fake I.D.", "Pardon Me Senorita" & "Where Are You?" are very specific. I've got a story behind every one of them, because for the most part...it really happened to me.
LMF: If you could do a duet with any artist out there right now, who would it be and why?
J: That's a no-brainer for me...Michael Jackson! There has never been & will never be another artist as big as him. Even if he would just sing one of my hooks someday...that would absolutely make my life!!!
LMF: Describe a day for you, from waking up to going to bed.
J: It depends day to day. Lately my day starts off in the gym or in therapy (gotta get back in performing shape after this 3 month setback.) Then for the most part it's been off to the studio either recording or mixing. My nights consist of staying up VERY late answering emails & writing new songs. I'm definitely a night person, so I probably won't go to bed until 2 or 3am! That being said...I try to fit in time for some other big projects I've got coming up.
LMF: What is the one thing you can eat 24/7?
J: When McDonald's has the "McRib"...it's on!!! Right now I've been chowin' on KFC Zingy Twisters, they are the bomb!!
LMF: Where do you see yourself in five years from now?
J: Hopefully writing & producing more Top 40 smashes!!! I want to be an artist for a few albums, but I know my true talent is songwriting. That's what I want to do for the rest of my life, but as long as people wanna listen I love being in front of the mic too!!! :)
LMF: If you could open up for any artist out there right now, who would it be?
J: I think the obvious choice would be this upcoming Britney Spears tour. I think it would be a great fit...but I'm not holding my breath. But hey, a guy can dream right?
LMF: What C.D. would we find in your C.D. player right now?
J: The new Jagged Edge, Joe, R.Kelly, Alicia Keys & "Pardon Me Senorita" :)
LMF: If you weren't singing, is there something else you could see yourself doing for a career?
J: Pitching for the 2003 Central Division Champion Chicago Cubs!!! (and soon to be 2004 World Series Champions)
LMF: last one, What message would you like to send out to your fans?
J: Thank you SOOOOO much for all of your love & support...past, present & future!!! I truly have the best fans in the entire world, and it's because of you that I'm still doin' all this. 2004 should be a VERY rewarding year for all of us, so please Stay Faithful! :)
