LMF: OK lets get started with your names?
E: Lionel (23), Steve (18), André (18-almost 19!)
LMF: What made you guys become a group?
A: Lionel and I met up at CSU, Sacramento after not seeing each other in about a year. effection was a group I started before, but it died down. Last fall, we brought back effection in full force. Steve joined us on our journey in June of this year, through word of mouth, about us looking to audition people.
LMF: When was your first performance?
A: As the reborn effection, Lionel and I performed at my aunt's birthday party in the Fall of 2001. With Steve in effection, we performed at the Osaka Students' Farewell Party at the end of July 2002.
LMF: Who are your musical influences?
S: Az Yet, Craig David, Boyz II Men, Soul 4 Real
L: Boyz II Men, One Vo1ce, LFO
A: PLUS One, *NSYNC,Craig David, New Found Glory
LMF: If you had the chance to sing with anyone who would it be and why?
S: No doubt, Craig David! The way he puts an acoustic guitar with R&B music is an awesome sound I would want to take part in.
L: One Vo1ce, b/c they're my girls. Haha, just kiddin, no really, I love their work and I'm so inspired by them.
A: maybe J.C. Chasez of *NSYNC since I look up to him as a recording artist and producer so much. Think of two guys harmonizing while belting a note!
LMF: Do you write songs?
S: We will have some original material on our album.
L: We all take part in the songwriting process.
A: Personally, I love writing lyrics and arranging harmonies.
LMF: So what about dancing? Is that something you like to do?
S: Let's see, let's just say I love teacing breaking and hip hop dancing at the local dance studio.
L: I like tight choreography. Liking is different from executing tho.
A: I love dancing and choreographing. A show shouldn't be without it.
LMF: So how do your friends/family feel about you singing?
S: My famly just wants to make sure that I keep my studies in order, and everything else is OK. My friends already think of me as a big person for pursuing this music career.
L: Well, my parents are supportive and push us to make great songs. Friends all always supportive and come out to our performances.
A: My parents feel I am a bum for doing it. Ok, not a bum. Really though, my family is full of performers so we all fully support each other. My friends are pretty receptive and supportive of effection. I mean, we are all going to college and not doing bad, so people see us as successful.
LMF: If you had to define your sound, how would you define it?
A: Well, our sound is not fully defined yet since our album is not yet completed. The direction we want to go is all innovative. We have our influences of new Pop, R&B, Christian, Rock, and others thrown in. You'll be blown away when you hear our songs.
LMF: what makes you different then the other groups?
L: First of all, we have our own look and sound. Our harmonies blend in our special way and our choreography is complex. We plan on totally changing the look and sound of Filipino/Asian music, and even further into impacting mainstream music."
LMF: Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
S:Hopefully, having other performers open up for us at our own concerts.
L:I want effection to still be known recording artists and performers. I see myself helping others getting started in music.
A: Well, I still want to be in effection, touring and recording albums, but another career plan is to be an recording engineer. I want to produce our music and other aspiring artists' music as well.
LMF: What would you say to the people that want to become a group?
L: Practice a lot and be good at what you do.
S: Be determined, or it will never work.
A: Work hard to make your stage shows impacting. Be comfortable with your individual harmonies and solos.
LMF: What would you like to say to your fans?
